WHY THIS PROGRAM

This Welding Program is part of the Advanced Joining Processes Course, which has been created to provide deep and high-level training on the multiple advanced joining processes used in industrial manufacturing.

The welding part includes laser welding, design, analysis and manufacture of welded structures and the friction stir welding process.

  • Laser welding - includes thorough information on the laser welding of metals and non-metals, live demonstrations and process implementation details.
  • Weld manufacturing and design - considers information weld manufacturing, residual stresses and distortions and methodologies for fatigue life prediction, including the nominal, local strain and fracture mechanics methods.
  • Friction stir welding - introduces the basic concepts of friction welding, analysis in detail its equipment and parameters, friction stir spot welding and the joining of similar and dissimilar materials.

The training team is composed of Professor Gregory Glink, Dr. Rakesh Goyal and Dr. Reza Beygi, all worldwide renowned experts in their fields, which possess extensive knowledge on the cutting-edge research being carried out in academic settings and also on the industrial state of the art processes.

DATES & FORMAT

〉 Dates: 28, 29, 30 of September 2022

〉 Format: 26 hours total - 12 hours live-streamed, and 14 hours of video-on-demand

ADVANCED JOINING PROCESSES COURSE

This course is divided into three parts, dedicated to:

Completion of this course will allow for a thorough understanding of the guiding principles behind all these technologies, from the design of the joint to its implementation in a product and in a production line

Each of these modules has been designed to comprehensively describe the most advanced design methods and manufacturing procedures within these fields, highlighting both the state of the art and future trends.

The training team is composed of worldwide renowned experts in their fields, stemming from both academia and industry. This diversity is crucial, as the course can also act as a vehicle to streamline communication of the latest developments between I&R Centres and industries that use joining methods.

FOR WHOM

The course intends to serve all those whose work involves joining processes and are seeking to acquire deep knowledge on current and emerging trends in this field.

〉 Innovation, engineering, production, industrial managers
〉 Product development engineers who wish to consolidate knowledge regarding joint design
〉 Multidisciplinary teams associated with projects involving joining technologies
〉 Consultants who wish to support product development using joining technologies

TEACHING METHOD

This program has been designed with remote teaching in mind, ensuring that professionals can attend it with minimal disruption of their work routines. Each of its modules is composed of recorded and live component. The recorded components can be accessed at any time during the course while the live portions will take place at the end of each week and will allow for direct communication with the course staff.

The course will include:

〉 Exposure of programmatic contents using videos and slides
Analysis of industrial and academic examples
〉 Live laboratorial demonstrations
〉 Moments of debate/reflection
〉 Contact with experts and sharing of professional experiences
