Decarbonization of Industry

Industry is an energy-intensive sector, responsible for high rates of greenhouse gas emissions, and is therefore one of the priorities in the energy transition and decarbonization process. The strategies and plans to respond to climate change point to very ambitious goals for the sector, bringing great challenges, but also opportunities, for companies. 

Alongside the current regulatory framework, the abrupt increase in energy costs and market demands make the decarbonization of the industry one of the major challenges to be addressed.

The articulation between business development, the search for more economical and sustainable sources of energy and the reduction of GHG emissions requires a structural transformation, with implications for the reconfiguration of industrial activity, production processes and the use of resources.

The industrial sector has the potential to improve environmental, energy and material performance through its commitment to energy efficiency, the integration of renewable energies, and low-carbon processes and technologies, the adoption of circular economy models, industrial symbiosis and adoption of new processes, products and services aimed at the society of the future, being essential, for this, to provide knowledge and train its staff.
