Offshore turbine blades with intelligent architectures of hybrid and nano-enabled multimaterials
01 November 2020 Project SheetINEGI's Contribution
Results/Impact
- Develop semiproducts (comingled yarns) by combining conventional and smart functionalised fibres
- Produce unidirectional (UD) tapes from the developed commingled yarns which can then be directly used for automated composite manufacturing processes
- Characterization of developed materials
- Management of work package 4: intermediate level testing
Results/Impact
- Significant reduction of life cycle costs while maintaining or improving other performance properties of the solution (e.g. obtained by significant reduction of maintenance cost)
- Development of materials with optimized materials cost and improved durability, reaching cost reductions for off shore energy production of about 40% of the current value
- Reduction of environmental impact by 35% (based on life cycle assessment and eco design)
