INEGI was in Brazil to foster cooperation in the area of renewable energy

An INEGI delegation travelled to the state of Ceará, Brazil, to establish contacts with institutions and companies in the region, to foster cooperation in the area of renewable energy, particularly with regard to forecasting studies.

The delegation had the opportunity to visit UECE - State University of Ceará and the work and skills developed within this institution. The meeting aimed to discuss possible future partnership opportunities, in line with the agreement already existing between UECE and the University of Porto, since 2016. INEGI was represented by Alcibíades Guedes, Chairman of the Board of INEGI, and João Sousa, responsible for the area of Energy Studies and Forecasting Services, which were received by the Rector of UECE, Jackson Sampaio.

The delegation was also received by the Secretary of Science, Technology and Higher Education of the State of Ceará, Inácio Arruda, and by the President of ADECE - Ceará State Development Agency, Eduardo Neves, to discuss the future of renewable energy in the Brazilian context.

There was also opportunity to visit AERIS’s facilities, with co-founder and director Vítor Santos of this reference company in the Brazilian wind blades manufacturing sector, which has been asserting itself with pioneering production processes.

The trip was also marked by the inauguration of the new office of Prewind, LTDA, a Brazilian company specialized in forecasting services for the energy sector. This spin-off is mostly owned by INEGI.
