INEGI consultant rejoins WIND EUROPE committee to discuss the future of wind energy in Europe

04 November 2022
Filipa Magalhães, INEGI's wind energy consultant, is a member of the support committee for the seminar "EoLIS - End-of-Life Issues and Strategies" (in Portuguese, Challenges and End-of-Life Strategies) for the 4th consecutive time. promoted by the Wind Europe association.

The 2022 edition of EoLIS will take place in Ghent, Belgium, between the 1st and 2nd of December 2022, bringing together the main actors of the wind sector community – industry, investors, companies, academia and research institutions.

Energy is currently the focus of European policies, and topics such as extending the life of existing infrastructure or replacing it with more efficient technologies through repowering will be on the table. The creation of new value chains will also be the subject of debate, regarding the reuse and recycling of the various components of wind turbines, the development of new recyclable materials and the change in manufacturing processes. In this sense, working together with other sectors of activity that face the same problems will be crucial.

Filipa Magalhães, who has already been part of the organizing committee in the previous editions of 2019, 2020 and 2021, points out that "events of this nature are increasingly important, at a time when we face a war between Ukraine and Russia, jeopardizing the stability, independence and sustainability of energy systems.

For the consultant, "the wind energy sector plays an increasingly important role in changing the paradigm and in meeting the ambitious goals defined by the European Union".
