INEGI aids CIFIAL in improving its Operational and Production Planning Processes

The CIFIAL group, a leading company in the field of taps and sanitary ware, with 115 years of history, elected INEGI to restructure its production planning methodology, as well as its operational processes, namely in terms of order registration, stock management and provisioning.

Operational management and production planning in the industry is a complex activity, but whose gains in competitiveness justify the investment. "Between information management, process optimization and resource rationalization, there are potential improvements in the company's profitability, increasing the level of customer satisfaction", reveals Gisela Santos, responsible for the project at INEGI.

In summary, "if the secret to success is product quality, the secret to perpetuating this success is to ensure that operations management accompanies and adds to that quality", she adds.

Aware of the potential for improvement, CIFIAL challenged INEGI to implement a consultancy project at its production unit in Rio Meão. The partnership between INEGI and the company is not new, having had several projects together, in line with the company's commitment to research and innovation in the area of ​​new materials and new processes for production.

Among the objectives outlined is the improvement of customer service levels, the optimization of production planning and stock management, as well as the increase in visibility of the plant's load.

To this end, INEGI's team of industrial engineering and management specialists will map the current scenario in the company and design a plan to improve operations as needed. Redesigning operational processes, specifying support information system requirements and mapping automation opportunities for operational records, are some of the actions already foreseen.

"We are going to make operational information more reliable, robust and timely, in order to rationalize resources and guarantee the traceability of the production process”, explains Gisela Santos.
