INEGI researcher elected president of the Portuguese Materials Society (SPM)
Jorge Lino, INEGI’s researcher and associate professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), was elected president of the board of directors of the Portuguese Materials Society (Sociedade Portuguesa dos Materiais - SPM).
At INEGI, Jorge Lino is currently engaged in research in the field of advanced manufacturing technologies, having been also vice-president of the Institute between 2002 and 2008.
Under the motto “Materials as catalysts for innovation and development in Portugal”, Lino’s team was unanimously elected at the general assembly that took place at the University of Aveiro. Elected to perform duties during the 2019-2021 biennium, their main goals are attracting the young community, consolidating the associations magazine, investing in internationalization, as well as improving communication with members, among other priorities.
This is not the first position Jorge Lino holds in SPMs leadership. He now leaves the post of Vice President, which he assumed in 2017, and serves as director of the associations magazine, “Science and Technology of Materials”, and co-coordinator of the Technical Division for Structural Materials.
