Experimental Stress Analysis and Non-Destructive Testing
INEGI’s work in this field is to be varied, complete and efficient. It includes determining the stress state in structural components, performing strength tests on structures or equipment and designing and developing equipment for Experimental Mechanics applications.
For performing such work INEGI has equipment to measure stress by electrical extensometry, which can be used in static and dynamic applications. This equipment uses computer data storage and telemetry systems. Besides this, the Institute also has several systems for measuring displacements and deformations, based on modern holographic interferometry techniques, among others.
INEGI has also project capacity to design and build equipment for non-destructuive testing of some types of composite materials.
