Spanish paint manufacturers association recognizes quality of INEGI’s laboratories

01 March 2019

INEGI's Smoke and Fire and Indoor Air Quality Laboratories were included in the recently published "ASEFAPI’ Guide of Reference Laboratories".

The recognition by the Spanish Association of Manufacturers of Paints and Print Inks "aims to highlight the commitment of participating laboratories to the sector" and serves as a guide for industry professionals in choosing the best partner to guarantee quality and compliance with legal requirements of the materials they produce.

According to Edite Vale, responsible for INEGI's Environment and Fire services, the recognition is in line with INEGI's desire to be "a strong partner for the spanish paints, varnishes and printing inks industry", since it has the capacity and skills to be of value "either in the development phase of new products or in their classification before entering the market".

It should be noted that INEGI's Indoor Air Quality Laboratory is currently the only one in the Iberian region accredited to evaluate emissions of certain volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by building materials in test rooms, and is performed according to criteria established by several laws and international bodies.

The Laboratory of Smoke and Fire, which has existed for more than 20 years, is a laboratory accredited by the Portuguese Institute of Accreditation (IPAC) and conducts fire reaction tests to classify the most diverse materials according to European standards.

Important capacities at a time when awareness of the economic and social effects of the impact of materials on the environment and public health is increasing, and calls for better practices of all actors in the production chain.
