19 November 2020The Renewable Energy in Portugal Forum 2020, promoted by the National Energy and Geology Laboratory (LNEG), is now available, with INEGI's contribution as the entity responsible for the coordination of the Thematic Group on Wind Energy.
The report was brought together the community of the energy sector - public administration, industry, investors, companies, academia, research institutions and final consumers - to discuss the future of the Portuguese Energy System and outline lines of action.
"The Renewable Energies Forum continued the work carried out in 2000, which was instrumental in supporting public policies in the context of promoting Renewables in Portugal. It is the result of an exercise of technical and scientific reflection on a set of themes in this sector, which took place between 2018 and the end of 2019 ”, explains José Carlos Matos, responsible for the Wind Energy area at INEGI and coordinator of the group dedicated to the same theme within the scope of this Forum.
Organized into four sector groups - biofuels, wind energy, solar energy, and renewable energy and integration into the energy system - the Renewable Energy in Portugal Forum 2020 is a reference on the current situation in the country.
The document is based on the year 2020 and lays down prospects for 2030 identified in national documents, which seek to respond to the European ruling after the Paris Agreement - the National Energy and Climate Plan 2030 and the Roadmap for Carbon Neutrality 2050 - as well as the decarbonisation of Portuguese economy.
