Future green hydrogen production center in Sines counts on INEGI's expertise

«Moving2Neutrality» is the name of the mobilizing project that aims to meet the challenge of energy transition in transportation by producing sustainable fuels for carbon neutrality. It is also one of the 23 innovation agendas, supported by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), which has the contribution of INEGI.

The main objective of the project is to build a green hydrogen production center, using solar and wind energy for production, which contributes to the creation of synthetic and decarbonized fuels. Sines was chosen, due to the region's endogenous conditions, to become a hub for the production of green energy.

INEGI's team will coordinate two activities central to the project: the development of a planning tool for green hydrogen production plants and the development of an integrative energy management tool (EMS) for the operation of green hydrogen production plants.

The tools to be developed will make it possible to optimize the plants in their design phase, as well as contribute to greater efficiency in the use of energy in order to minimize the cost of the hydrogen produced, thus participating in the fulfillment of the objectives of ecological transition and digital transition..

Portugal's commitment to creating a green hydrogen production center is essential not only to boost the country's economy, but also to promote the energy transition and boost the transport sector towards a more sustainable future.
